{"id":645,"date":"2019-12-22T22:37:29","date_gmt":"2019-12-23T03:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/?p=645"},"modified":"2019-12-23T23:09:24","modified_gmt":"2019-12-24T04:09:24","slug":"news-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/index.php\/news-2018","title":{"rendered":"News 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Go North Youth Event 2018<\/strong>  (June 5th)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The one-day <em>Go North Youth<\/em> event, created by U of T&#8217;s Faculty of Applied Science &amp;&nbsp;Engineering in partnership with Google Canada and Actua, featured workshops and learning designed to ignite curiosity in youth and showcase the possibility what a career in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) can hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over 1,100 Ontario students in Grades 4 to 8 visited the University of Toronto to attend this event for a chance to peek under the hood of today\u2019s technologies, and get a taste of university life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our <a href=\"https:\/\/carre.utoronto.ca\/\">CARRE<\/a> booth exhibit and graduate students where featured on BT Breakfast Television , watch <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bttoronto.ca\/videos\/stella-is-live-at-go-north-youth-2-of-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Science Rendezvous 2018<\/strong> (May 12th)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Science Rendezvous<\/em>&nbsp;is a free annual all-day festival that brings science out of the lab and onto the street with the ultimate goal of improving student enrolment as well as public involvement in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"776\" src=\"https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/BJH0594-1024x776.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-649\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/BJH0594-1024x776.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/BJH0594-300x227.jpg 300w, https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/BJH0594-768x582.jpg 768w, https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/BJH0594-1536x1164.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/flight.utias.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/BJH0594-2048x1552.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <em>Science Rendezvous Event <\/em>was the kick-start event to the National Science &amp;
